“Whatever state of being I bring from the last moment shapes the next moment.”
Life’s challenges often come with patterns of self-sabotage, injuries, or accidents that seem to happen by chance. But what if these moments are not random at all? What if they’re signals pointing us toward deeper lessons about presence and awareness?
We’ve all experienced it: life is going well, and then suddenly, something happens. An injury, an accident, or even an emotional outburst derails our progress. This is often a manifestation of the “upper limit problem,” where we unconsciously sabotage ourselves when we reach the edge of our comfort zone.
In these moments, it’s easy to place blame externally—on circumstances, other people, or bad luck. But true growth requires reflection. What was happening internally? What unconscious patterns or beliefs surfaced and led to the incident?
Presence is the key to breaking free from these cycles. When we lose touch with the present moment, we operate from a state of fear, rushing, or avoidance. This can lead to mistakes, accidents, and decisions misaligned with our authentic selves.
Presence starts with awareness—pausing to check in with yourself and your environment. Here’s how to cultivate it:
Find Your Essence Pace: Your “essence pace” is the natural rhythm at which you feel most aligned and harmonious. To discover it, practice walking at different speeds until you find the pace that feels right for you. This practice helps you stay grounded and minimizes accidents or missteps.
Check In Before Action: Whether you’re getting into a vehicle, starting a task, or making a decision, pause and ask:
Am I present?
Am I emotionally clear?
Am I aligned with my authentic yes or no?
Honor Your Authentic Yeses and Noes: Impeccable integrity means only agreeing to things you genuinely want to do and renegotiating commitments that no longer serve you. When you live in alignment with your true desires, you create space for inspired action.
Self-sabotage often stems from unresolved emotions, unexamined beliefs, or unconscious patterns. To break these cycles, take the following steps:
Document Past Events: Reflect on significant challenges, injuries, or accidents in your life. For each event, ask:
What unconscious beliefs, stories, or patterns were at play?
Was I present with my emotions, or was I avoiding them?
What frequency or state of being was I operating from?
Dig to the Root: Identify the underlying emotions or beliefs that contributed to these incidents. Were you ignoring your needs? Avoiding discomfort? Rushing through life without presence?
Extract the Lesson: Use these insights to shift your patterns. Commit to being more present, honoring your boundaries, and addressing your emotions head-on.
Living a life of uninspired action is like having sex with your clothes on—it’s unfulfilling and disconnected. To break free from the hamster wheel of busyness, reorganize your life to prioritize:
Time for Inspiration: Create space to breathe, relax, and let inspiration flow.
Authentic Action: Only take steps that feel aligned with your true self.
Stillness and Reflection: Regularly pause to recalibrate your state of being.
To stay present and avoid self-sabotage, integrate these practices into your daily routine:
Breathe Before You Act: Use conscious breathing to ground yourself before starting any task.
Check Your State: Assess your emotional and mental state regularly. Are you operating from clarity and alignment?
Slow Down: Practice moving at your essence pace to stay connected to the present moment.
Be Intentional: Align your actions with your highest self and your vision for the future.
Mastering presence is a lifelong journey, but it’s one of the most powerful ways to break free from self-sabotage and create a life of alignment and growth. By honoring your essence pace, staying aware, and cultivating inspired action, you can transcend your upper limits and live with greater peace and fulfillment.
Remember, every moment shapes the next. Choose to bring presence, awareness, and intention into each one. The ripple effects will transform your life.

"I feel an openness, a willingness to receive , and a call to soften. I felt the love in my chest expanding outwards into ever fiber, every cell. I feel a rawness as this is a place that I don't feel I've fully felt or been able or free to express. I feel a sense of excitement, joy, ecstasy, and bliss. I feel love opening and it's juiciness." -Shawnalee

“Through working with Christopher John Stubbs on the call this past week. The guilt. The absolute control. The financial control. The revenge. The imprints of never being allowed to be my true self. That began unraveling this week and my former partner felt the shift in me.
The trauma tried to reassert itself through the aggression and blaming and "you owe me" rant and "you're not good enough" and "it's all your fault." Wounded Abuser Energy.
Christopher is able to penetrate my darkest hallways and illuminate and illustrate how to clean it up and be free in the light.
Deeply thankful to Christopher for offering last week’s call.” -Gayla D’Gaia
