"You grow through what you go through when you’re highly open and committed to learning."
Growth isn’t always smooth. It’s not always easy. But when you’re committed to learning and open to feedback, even the most challenging situations can be transformative.
As with any large event, tensions arose. There were instances where communication broke down, and we found ourselves stepping onto the drama triangle—with emotions and misunderstandings running high among some of the Men of Sovereignty. But even in the midst of those challenges, we stayed committed to showing up powerfully and making sure that the event was impactful and valuable for all participants.
We weren’t there to be perfect, but we were committed to growth. And growth doesn’t happen without challenge.
After the event, we had several crucial conversations. We met each other where we were at, acknowledged how we showed up, and took full responsibility for how we contributed to any mess or tension. There was no finger-pointing—just honest reflection and accountability.
We shared what was on our hearts and talked through our experiences. Each of us was open to feedback, and we committed to implementing what we learned. This wasn’t just about communication; it was about radical accountability—owning our actions and making the necessary shifts to ensure we moved forward in a more unified way.
Fast forward to the RISE Sovereign event, and the shift was undeniable. The tension and drama that had surfaced were virtually nonexistent. Instead, we found ourselves connecting through play, relaxation, and deep conversations. That carried over into the event itself, where the ease and flow were palpable.
The rain even tried to disrupt things, but it didn’t matter. We pivoted, rearranged the schedule, and kept going with absolute ease. The event was smooth, the energy was focused, and we were more connected than ever.
What made the difference?
Radical accountability and a commitment to growth. As Men of Sovereignty, we weren’t trying to be perfect. But we were committed to having the tough conversations, owning our actions, and doing the necessary inner work to show up fully.
Imagine a dozen powerful men, co-leading a multi-day experience as equals, with no ego-driven power struggles. The result was a collective experience filled with ease and flow, and it was truly amazing.
This experience wasn’t just about an event—it was about life and leadership. Growth doesn’t come from avoiding tension or trying to sidestep conflict. It comes from facing challenges head-on, being willing to have honest conversations, and owning your role in the process.
In life, business, or relationships, this principle is universal. Radical accountability and a commitment to learning will transform any challenge into an opportunity for growth.
So, the next time you find yourself facing tension or breakdowns in communication, remember this: growth comes through the challenges you face. The more open and committed you are to learning, the more ease and flow you’ll experience—not just in events like RISE Sovereign, but in all areas of your life.
