"The truest sign of intelligence is the ability to entertain two contradictory ideas simultaneously."
It’s easy to cling to our current perceptions, holding onto beliefs that feel familiar and comfortable. But if we are to grow, to truly understand the world, and to connect deeply with others, we must be willing to question everything—even our most deeply held beliefs.
True intelligence is marked not by how much we know, but by our capacity to entertain opposing ideas without needing to immediately accept or reject them. It’s the courage to sit with contradictions, the humility to recognize our cognitive biases, and the openness to consider multiple perspectives on any given issue. Only through this kind of deep, unbiased contemplation can we uncover the full picture.
Every issue has at least two sides, if not more. But often, we find ourselves looking at things through the narrow lens of our current beliefs, filtering information in a way that reinforces what we already think we know. This is cognitive bias at work—a mental shortcut that can keep us from seeing the full truth.
When new ideas conflict with our established beliefs, it creates cognitive dissonance, a kind of mental discomfort. It’s tempting to reject or dismiss opposing viewpoints simply to maintain our own sense of certainty. But this knee-jerk rejection is, in essence, willful ignorance.
To avoid this trap, we must be aware of our cognitive biases and remain open to questioning everything. As the saying goes, “Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance.” The truly intelligent person, the true seeker of knowledge, remains open to learning and is willing to hold conflicting ideas without rushing to conclusions.
True intelligence, true humility, and true openness to learning require a willingness to sit with discomfort. It requires us to examine all sides of a story without the need to draw conclusions, to look at evidence with an open mind, and to resist the impulse to jump to conclusions.
Imagine approaching each new idea, each new perspective, with a childlike curiosity and wonder. The skeptic within us can be a gift, as long as it’s not in service of simply defending our own point of view. When our skepticism is used to preserve our own beliefs, we end up stuck in the very limitations we’re trying to break free from.
The true detective—the one who genuinely seeks truth—takes time, examines from all angles, and remains unattached to a single outcome. Deep due diligence and a commitment to understanding are essential, even when it challenges our own worldviews.
Learning to entertain opposing ideas without immediate judgment isn’t easy, but it’s essential. It’s challenging to examine contradictory concepts from a place of neutrality, to hold two opposing ideas and seek to understand them both. Yet, this is the mark of true intelligence.
It’s a skill we can cultivate by fostering curiosity and wonder, by questioning what we think we know, and by remaining open to the possibility that we may be wrong. This kind of openness allows us to grow, to expand beyond our self-imposed limitations, and to embrace the vastness of human experience.
One of the greatest addictions in the world is the addiction to thinking. When we’re stuck in our intellect, constantly analyzing and categorizing, we rob ourselves of genuine connection—both with ourselves and with others. This addiction to thinking and “being right” creates a barrier that separates us from deeper truths and genuine understanding.
Being overly attached to our intellect can prevent us from accessing the connection we all crave. It’s this disconnection that often drives us to stay stuck in habitual thinking patterns, defending our perceptions rather than opening ourselves up to new ideas.
To find true understanding, we must learn to break free from this addiction to thinking and cultivate a deeper connection with ourselves. We must transmute our traumas and learn to respond to challenges from a place of peace rather than reacting out of old wounds. True freedom and intelligence come when we source our own safety, love ourselves fully, and take radical responsibility for our lives.
When we embrace impeccable integrity and take full ownership of our experiences, we can finally put an end to the inner battles and wars that divide us. This inner peace creates a ripple effect, fostering harmony not only within ourselves but in our relationships and the world around us.
The journey to true intelligence and freedom is one of continuous questioning. It’s a commitment to discovering who we truly are at the deepest level, to seeking the highest truth, and to finding liberation within. This is the truth that sets us free.
True freedom doesn’t come from clinging to beliefs, but from being willing to question them. It’s about seeking truth from a place of curiosity and openness, without rushing to conclusions or needing to be right. When we stop at nothing to uncover our truest self, we free ourselves from the limitations of our current perceptions and step into a life of genuine sovereignty.
If we want to experience true intelligence and deep connection, we must be willing to entertain opposing ideas, to sit with discomfort, and to remain open to learning. This is the path of self-discovery, of growth, and ultimately, of inner peace.
Stop at nothing to know the deepest truth of who you are. Embrace your curiosity, let go of the need to be right, and you’ll find that the journey to understanding is the most rewarding one of all.

"I feel an openness, a willingness to receive , and a call to soften. I felt the love in my chest expanding outwards into ever fiber, every cell. I feel a rawness as this is a place that I don't feel I've fully felt or been able or free to express. I feel a sense of excitement, joy, ecstasy, and bliss. I feel love opening and it's juiciness." -Shawnalee

“Through working with Christopher John Stubbs on the call this past week. The guilt. The absolute control. The financial control. The revenge. The imprints of never being allowed to be my true self. That began unraveling this week and my former partner felt the shift in me.
The trauma tried to reassert itself through the aggression and blaming and "you owe me" rant and "you're not good enough" and "it's all your fault." Wounded Abuser Energy.
Christopher is able to penetrate my darkest hallways and illuminate and illustrate how to clean it up and be free in the light.
Deeply thankful to Christopher for offering last week’s call.” -Gayla D’Gaia
